The new Shimano Aldebaran MGL is an insanely lightweight low profile baitcasting reel. With a weight of only 135 it fits perfect on any BFS rod. Due to the 9 + 1 S-ARB ball bearings, all parts of the Aldebaran run very smoothly. Also the Aldebaran has a New MGL spool, which is even lighter than the previous version. This results in a very low start-up inertia, making it possible to cast even lighter lures at a proper distance. Also there has been a new SVS infinity breaking system implemented into the Aldebaran MGL, which can be set very finely to prevent backlash when casting. Taking this all into account the Aldebaran MGL would be the optimal reel for Bait finesse fishing and vertical jigging for zander/perch, but with a drag of max 4,5kg also the fish like big pike can be handled. By positioning the pinion gear close to the centre line of the large diameter drive gear, more power is transferred from the handle to the rotor. The pinion gear is also supported by two Shimano ARB roller bearings. This creates more stability. Hagane Body: - The HAGANE Body is produced from highrigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. SVS Infinity: - Shimanos newest innovation in brake system technology, SVS Infinity provides easytomanage, consistent spool control and brake force. The external adjustment knob provides for quick, precise adjustments for either the conditions or when you switch baits. Silenttune: - Silent Tune is a new Shimano technology. As with any casting reel, the spool rides on bearings. These bearings have pockets in the frame or side plates which house the bearings and are given some tolerance in order to make the bearings more easily changeable. While the tolerance is necessary, it allows the bearings to move slightly during casting leading to the smallest of vibrations that focus energy away from the core of the reel and reduce the distance and smoothness of the cast. Silent Tune technology is Shimanos answer to this issue. They engineered a method to add small springs under the bearings which keep the bearings in place ensuring proper alignment and eliminating any movement or vibration that may occur. S ARB: - Shimano S ARB bearings are high corrosion resistant ARB ball bearings with an extra shield for improved protection against sand, salt or dust. Super Free System: - The Super Free bearing supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased freespool.
