The extruder is one of the most important components of a 3D printer. Its job is to guide the filament from the spool into the print area and heat it to the proper temperature. Delivering the filament to the extruder is usually done by a mechanism based on a stepper motor. Before the filament enters the printing area, it is heated and properly formed by the exhaust nozzle.
