The Nonius (in Hungarian, Noniusz) is a Hungarian horse race.
It is generally dark, a muscular race and strong bones.
Originally it was raised to serve as a light and utilitarian shooting horse for the military of Hungary.
A decrease in the use of horses in Hungary after the war sent many breed members to the slaughterhouse.
Today, race is raised by conservationists and is used in competitive agriculture, horse riding and driving sports.
