Описание

Description

The proximity sensor based on the system TSSP77038 operating in the infrared range. It has a permanent amplification. This version of high brightness, consumes around 16 mA when powered at 5 V. The sensor operates at a distance of up to 30 cm

Connection

The sensor has 4 pins for self-installation of goldpin connectors - 2.54 mm pitch (included):

  • GND- ground of the system
  • VDD- supply voltage from 3.3 V to 5 V, power supply less than 5 V reduces the brightness of the IR LED and reduces the operating range. To run a full brightness at 3.3 V, you should short the jumper located on the side of the emitter
  • OUT- by default in a high status, it switches to a low status in the case of object detection, at the same time, the red led indicates the detection of an object
  • ENABLE- pin enabling the module, by default in the high status (enabled)
Setting the frequency of the emitter

The potentiometer on the receiver's side can be used to adjust frequency of the IR emitter. The maximum range is achieved at 38kHz but it can be adjusted to the needs.

Specification
  • Supply voltage: from 3.3 V to 5 V
  • Current consumption: 8 mA
  • Chip: TSSP77038
  • Sampling rate: 1 kHz
  • Radius: 30 cm
  • Dimensions: 15 x 10 x 5 mm
  • Weight: 0.6 g
Limitations
  • The sensor shows only the object detection, it doesn't show the distance from it
  • The size and ability of reflecting the infrared rays of the object affect the operation of the module
  • The sensor has a wide operation angle and therefore, the need may occur to use additional protections. Those shields can also cause incorrect readings from time to time.
  • The sensor responds to the ambient IR waves, for example, fluorescent lamp
  • Many sensors can interfere with each other and cause wrong readings
Versions of sensor

The sensor is available in two versions: of low brightness and high brightness. In appearance, they differ with applied resistors, and in the possibilities, with power consumption and spectrum of operation.
